CLE Announcement
Justice: The Pro Bono Component Model Rule 6.1 Governing Pro Bono Service Has Changed! Model Rule 6.1 of the Rules of Professional Conduct was recently changed to clarify an attorney’s professional responsibility to provide legal services to those unable to pay. There is a critical need for legal services that exists among persons of limited means. However, many of the legal problems that arise among low-income Arkansans may be issues that are outside a private attorney’s typical area of practice. This CLE program is designed to educate Arkansas attorneys about the modified Rule and to showcase the wealth of resources that have been developed to assist them with handling unfamiliar cases. Speakers will be Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Annabelle Clinton Imber and Dean Charles Goldner of the UALR Bowen School of Law, who will outline the Rule changes. Ron Lanoue and Vincent Morris of the Arkansas Legal Services Partnership will demonstrate the helpful tools the Partnership provides. The Arkansas Access to Justice Commission works to provide greater access to civil justice for low-income Arkansans. A major component of civil justice is the provision of pro bono services. To increase this important resource, the Commission is sponsoring this cutting-edge CLE. To register for the Arkansas Bar Association Annual Meeting click on the link below.
